Manhattan bound.
This adventure is just begininng, but it has already proven itself to be one of God’s faithfulness. A story of a God who knows me better than I know myself, who takes my perfect plan and makes it that much better. A Creator who knows every facet of His creation. A story of a God who meets us where we are and who will meet me in New York City.
So, my Glasgow blog (kelseysnell.wordpress.com) left off with a quote from my friend Josh the World Traveler about doorways and windows. Well, Josh is exactly where this one begins. After months of applying to journalism internships all over, from London to Washington state, and recieving no replies, I sent a message of slight desperation to Josh who was fresh on the Brooklyn scene. Josh helped me contact his friend Alyssa, who recently started working for Conde Nast’s DETAILS Magazine. Alyssa graciously sent my resume, cover letter and Glasgow blog to Lisa at DETAILS. In three days, Lisa contacted me. After a great chat with Lisa and eleven more days, I was offered a publishing internship at DETAILS in Times Square. I’ll be working with Lisa on the Creative Services and Advertising team for the next eight weeks starting Mon., June 7.
“Well Mom, I got the internship. What does that mean? What’s next?” Through a network of contacts including my cousin Haynes, I found a place to live in Chelsea, a cozy district of the city, within two days. My future roomate Emily needed to sublease and miraculously will be returning to her place almost the exact date I’ll head back to the Tar Heel state. Emily is from NC, so that’s a good common ground to have in NYC.
“Now you’re just showing off.” (Bruce Almighty to God)
1. A friend from UNC graduated and moved to NYC just a few weeks ago; she moved to Chelsea as well. One street over from my apartment.
2. Summit’s church plant in NYC, The Gallery Church, which I’m planning to visit and hopefully serve with, is just a few blocks away in a Chelsea/Flatiron art gallery.
3. My third roomate’s younger sister is a fellow tarheel. Come to find out, she lived with Alison, one of my best girlfriends, in Ethiopia all of last summer.
So there it is… how I made it to Manhattan. Stay tuned.

Wow! I didn’t hear all those GodThings when we had dinner, just some of it. Ren and I will have you in our hearts and minds for those 2 months. BTW, nice photo.
